IF I NEVER MET YOU REVIEW

   Author: Mhairi McFarlane  Note: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

If faking love is this easy... how do you know when it’s real?

When her partner of over a decade suddenly ends things, Laurie is left reeling—not only because they work at the same law firm and she has to see him every day. Her once perfect life is in shambles and the thought of dating again in the age of Tinder is nothing short of horrifying. When news of her ex’s pregnant girlfriend hits the office grapevine, taking the humiliation lying down is not an option. Then a chance encounter in a broken-down elevator with the office playboy opens up a new possibility.

Jamie Carter doesn’t believe in love, but he needs a respectable, steady girlfriend to impress their bosses. Laurie wants a hot new man to give the rumor mill something else to talk about. It’s the perfect proposition: a fauxmance played out on social media, with strategically staged photographs and a specific end date in mind. With the plan hatched, Laurie and Jamie begin to flaunt their new couple status, to the astonishment—and jealousy—of their friends and colleagues. But there’s a fine line between pretending to be in love and actually falling for your charming, handsome fake boyfriend...

BOOK REVIEW

After a complicated end of a relationship of almost two decades Laurie knows better Jamie one of the lawyers womanizer and much talked about where he works, together both will seek their personal and professional goals with the help of each other.

This was a book that I identified many times with the situations experienced by the main characters, I will start talking about Laurie: the long time relationship, going through the mistrust and painful discoveries of someone you trust is very difficult and having to follow everything is worse, and even made me question what I am doing with my current relationship. The relationship with her father, for many years I went through the same thing with my mother and even though I didn't have the courage to cut ties immediately out of attachment it made me think about something I long for and deserve.

Laurie is a woman in her thirties, very engaging, funny and real that passes a huge amount of truth to the reader.

Jamie, dealing with rumours about you without the slightest bit of sense is exhausting but having to deal with the pain of death and grief ahead of time is worse, that year I spent two long months knowing that a person very close to me was going to leave and seeing him go through this with *SPOILER* his father touched me in a different way.

I LOVED JAMIE AND I WOULDN'T MIND IT BEING A ONE NIGHT STAND.

The writing is understandable and a quick read for those who love drama but sometimes it can be difficult to understand in some expressions quoted by the author when talking about professional terms of the characters.

I need to mention that I hate Dan 99% of the time and 1% of understanding about the quote of the loss of oneself and the boredom that makes us take stupid and selfish attitudes.

Just three final thoughts I can make at the moment: Jamie and Laurie's friends are amazing and I've never loved so many secondary characters. Nadia is me in everything haha. And lastly, the ending was not good and deserved an epilogue, it got vague and boring, the book deserved something more explicit and explanatory that ebglobes all the highlights of the book.

After all this "review" of mine was more personal than professional LOL but the reading was very enjoyable and hooked me from the beginning making me read it in a few hours.
